My name is Randy Duncan. I own and operate Oldies Gold, an internet radio station playing the best of the 50s, 60s, and 70s. I have been running it solo — no staff, no IT department, just me and a library of great music.
Like most independent station operators, I wore every hat. Programmer. Engineer. Music director. And when it came to the operational side — weather forecasts, severe weather alerts, show prep, cue sheets — I was doing it all by hand, every day.
The Problem I Was Trying to Solve
Weather forecasts on a radio station should sound like your station. Not a robotic text-to-speech dump. Not a copy-pasted NWS bulletin. Something written in your voice, delivered to your playout folder, ready to air. I could not find software that did that at a price a one-person internet station could afford — so I built it.
WeatherReady was the first product. It pulls live weather data, uses AI to write broadcast copy in whatever personality voice you set up, converts it to a finished MP3 via TTS, and drops it in your playout folder on a schedule. I have been running it on Oldies Gold since before I offered it for sale.
The rest of the RadioReadyWare suite grew the same way. SevereWeatherReady came from needing an automated severe weather alert system that actually worked for a solo operator. PrepReady came from the daily grind of show prep. CueReady and SyndicatorCueReady came from the cue sheet headaches that syndicated programming creates.
